Something was damaged. What should I do?

Accidents can happen. Learn how to report damage, what information to provide, and what to expect next.

Written by Milan Geerling

We know how upsetting it can be when something gets damaged in your home.

While damage during a cleaning appointment is uncommon, you can report it directly through the Service Portal. If the damage falls within the applicable insurance coverage, eligible claims may be forwarded to HDI, Helpling’s liability insurance partner, for further assessment.

If you need help submitting your report or understanding the next steps, our Support team is available to assist.

🤝 Submit a damage report through the Service Portal

The quickest way to report damage is through the Service Portal.

Please submit your report as soon as possible after the appointment and include as much information as you can.

Need help reporting the damage?

Our Support team can explain the process, answer your questions, and help you submit your report through the Service Portal.

📝 How to report damage through the Service Portal

Step 1: Select the appointment

Open the Submit Damage Report section and choose the cleaning appointment during which the damage occurred.

Step 2: Tell us what happened

Provide details about the incident, including:

  • A description of the damaged item

  • The estimated value of the damage in euros

  • How the damage occurred

Step 3: Upload supporting documents

Please upload any relevant documents you have, such as:

  • Photos of the damaged item

  • The original purchase invoice

  • A repair quote or cost estimate

💡 Good to know

You can submit your report even if you do not have all the supporting documents yet. Our damage team will contact you if further information is required.

Please note that damage below €500 cannot be forwarded to HDI, Helpling’s liability insurance partner. These cases need to be resolved directly between you and your service provider.

Helpling can help facilitate communication between both parties, but does not decide whether or how compensation should be provided.

🔍 What happens next?

Once you have submitted your report:

  • Our damage team checks whether all the necessary information has been provided.

  • We collect feedback from your service provider.

  • If the damage meets the applicable insurance threshold, the information can be forwarded to HDI Insurance.

  • HDI may appoint an expert to assess the damage.

  • If the damage is below €500, you and your service provider will need to agree on how to resolve the matter directly.

We will contact you if further information is needed and help facilitate communication throughout the process.
